a few dj shadow questions:
1) about 2:05 into "the number song" he breaks into this goofy horn
fanfare that's sampled from someplace -- an old prog-rock album, i
think. Since i'm currently living a thousand or so miles away from my
collection of prog vinyl, i have no way of figuring out where it's
from. my guess is early king crimson or henry cow or muffins. anyone
know the artist/album/song that is the source?
2) according to my advance cassette of _preemptive strike_, the
forthcoming US collection of shadow's mo'wax singles, the album will
contain these cuts:
strke one
in flux
hindsight
strike two
what does your soul look like pt. 2
wdysll pt 3
wdysll pt 4
wdysll pt 1
strike three (and i'm out)
high noon
organ donor (extended overhaul)
camel bobsled (dj shadow megamix by DJ Q-Bert)
i noticed right away that "lost and found (s.f.l.)" is not here. any
other shadow mo'wax stuff that's missing?
3) anyone got any info on why "lost and found" ain't here? anything to
do with the fact that it features a generous sample from u2, and u2 is
signed to island, which is connected to london/ffrr, who are putting
the album out? anyone know if u2 had any complaints about the sample?
(remember what they did to negativland.)
thanks for any and all responses,
jeff
