Well, it's been ages since I listened to it, but they released a self-titled album about 2 years ago which I recall enjoying quite a bit. Here's what I wrote about it at the time for my column in Chart magazine: "Moving on to something a little more soulful, the latest release in Virgin's Ambient series is something quite different from the previous installments: Sufi is a collaboration between Rudy Tambala, songwriter with M.A.R.R.S. (remember "Pump Up The Volume"?), his sister Margaret, and former Cocteau Twins drummer Benny di Massa. The resulting sound is a sort of ethereal/ambient trip-hop, like a cross between the Cocteaus, Eno and Portishead." Don't know if they've released anything since, though. Greg

Sufi released three 12"s (on Rudy's own Secret Agent label) after _Life's Rising_. the first is a collaboration/split with Sugarboat (AKA Astralwerks'/ Melankolic's ALPHA) and the third includes the first appearance of Boymerang's VIP remix of "River" (which ended up on his _Balance of the Force_ album). there was a second Sufi album released a few months ago on Secret Agent, and i believe that it was basically compiled from these earlier tracks. gg/ gg2g4ink@sprynet.com np: surface of the earth (corpus hermeticum) + technoise/hyware (i/che) ------------------------------------- = ... try it!
