I completely agree with you JB. I just cannot believe that IDM contains so much (99%) bullshit/junk-mail . The only thing that is IDM useful is that you can find some good sale/trade stuff, and that's a shame. Mainly, because of 100 messages a day, 1 is good. Who gives a f**k what is real version of AB3's cover ? Who gives a f**k if you own AB3, unless you wanna sell it ? Who gives a f**k what is Come to Daddy video like ? Is Aphex Twin IDM? I believe that 99% of the mailing list would agree that he is. In fact, the list was originally set up specifically to talk about RDJ. Discussion of his records and videos seems dead fucking center on topic for the list.

I personally don't like her music all that much, but I believe that there is a reasonable argument that her new album has some IDM elements to it. You've given a list of topics you don't want discussed on here. These topics include IDM music, IDM videos, IDM cover artwork, and IDM (or potentially IDM) artists. Once we get rid of all that clutter, what DO you want people to talk about?

right. we're supposed to talk about swe*ring, and cool things like that. to that end, what's up with the ** anyway? afraid your mom might see it? beyond that... there's music in those videos, right? then maybe those videos deserve talking about, as they can possibly show us the difference between how we are perceiving the music and how the artist or the director is perceiving the music. that seems pretty valid to me. cover art. again, how does the artist (or the designers republic =) perceive the piece of music. the cover is the listener's first idea of what they are going to be listening to. this goes for idm, death metal, rap, country, punk, what have you. i totally appreciate cover art, because in a sense, it *is* unnecessary. it's a bonus for the buyer. something pretty to look at while listening to the music. how does that artwork influence how you hear the music. talk away. the rest of your little list. well, why not? it's more fun than just hearing the album. i like to know a little bit about the people who make the music. better to hear that rich has a tank than "he sat in his bedroom and put together another five tracks today." are you saying that there should be no interviews as well? because we might learn something about the artist? sorry... i'd like to hear about plaid's new car... what's the scoop? if people want to go ahead and create their own little list, great. good luck finding new information. maybe that won't matter as long as you can all sit around and agree with each other. i for one truly appreciate this list. without it, i wouldn't know about mu-ziq, squarepusher, ninja tune, rephlex, etc... thanks to all for helping me broaden my musical (and artistic) horizons. alan! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

what do you want to see discussed here?? this is a music list, and more than half the stuff up there should be fair game. i agree that there IS a lot of unrelated topics discussed now and again, but people digress, and as long as the digression is into topics that are at least a little bit related to music, let it be. this would be a boring list if every post was "new mu-ziq cd is good" or "speedy j live show on the third." ..but anyway. to avoid being reprimanded for even posting this non-music related message, here's something music related.. what kind of experiences (if any) do people on here have playing live? i played for the first time last week and it was pretty harrowing .. still, it was fun too, and way loud. :) noah
