This reminds me that I've been meaning to ask for a while now how people would feel about having playlists posted to the mailing list. Could we have a straw poll of some sort perhaps? I've been posting my playlists from my show on a few newsgroups since I started it , but I've always avoided posting it here for fear of grumbling from some folks. I should add that my playlists also include mini-reviews of several of titles I played on the show, so some may consider it more appropriate for posting here than a straight list of tracks. Greg

Just be sure to put "playlist" in the Subject: line so my mail reader can automatically delete it, along with "AFX", "Aphex", "Chemical", etc. Che

My sentiments exactly. Same goes for top tens, simple 'wa-blam' lists really don't do anyone much good, but tenners with text I make time to read, yes indeed. Back when traffic was less crushing (although contrary to the current trend!) I used to post setlists, then I started just posting pointers to the space on my site with setlists. Which is nice. Hmmm. I'm sorry guys if posting my playlist was inappropriate. I had just finished typing it and was sending it off to the usual folks and just added the idm list on a whim. Does anyone want to see playlists posted to this list? I guess in the future I'll just make some comment about where people can find my setlists, or people can ask me specifically to be added to my e-mailing list. -Brian ____________________________________________________________________________ Brian Gingold, University of California at Davis "sound" - KDVS 90.3 FM alternate Thursdays 12-3AM ambient/experimental/idm Web: http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~gingold

I don't think it was a inappropriate, at all, just urging ppl to post them along with comments to make them more meaningful in general. In the past here, there have been a few grumbles about playlists being viewed as dj fodder. Sorry if I made anyone uneasy about past-listings. I'd like to issue a list-admin p.o.b. (pat on back) to IDM et al for the month of October! While other lists are presently going through a bit of s/n degradation (313 and boston-raves) IDM has been *nice*! Now, I need some help identifying a 7" white I got in the mail today from CAcounterattact "we can elude control" ... return address: 37 cambridge street, grangetown, cardiff, u.k. cf1-7dj. Help me o.b.wan.... Teep

It's pretty good. Everything they do is completely analogue. You can really tell. There are plenty of cool vintage sounds in there. You should definitely check it out if you like minimalist techno. It's the same guys as SETI and Human Mesh Dance. -Brian ____________________________________________________________________________ Brian Gingold, University of California at Davis "sound" - KDVS 90.3 FM alternate Thursdays 12-3AM ambient/experimental/idm Web: http://wwwcsif.cs.ucdavis.edu/~gingold
