hello, let's talk about cover songs in the electronic music field. i suppose these would qualify as "remixes", but they aren't always artist sanctioned and are treated more like the covering artist's own than a remix would be. plus, remixes tend to be rather incestuous with similar artists remixing each other's work. covers can be more daring. that stated: name some. i can think of afx's popcorn and pacman. also coil's cover of leonard cohen's "who by fire". rumours of cheesy covers of digeridoo by mike paradinas. more.

Orbital: The Saint Global Communication: Maiden Voyage ["Love on a Real Train"] Massive Attack: Light My Fire Coldcut: Autumn Leaves Didn't LFO have a cut on that 'Ruby Trax' 3CD covers compilation, years ago? Do remixes of cover recordings count? (FSOL remixed "I Put a Spell on You" by Bryan Ferry, for instance) And whether you consider the Acid Brass album IDM is up to you. Uwe Schmidt (Atom Heart) was supposedly working on an album of covers (David Bowie? and other pop artists), but I don't think that ever came to fruition. Or perhaps it just hasn't been released yet. GD

IF you lived LOCAL you could have heard BASSLAND cover Stevie Wonder's "HIGHER GROUND" I know they have 2 tapes out, but not sure if this track is on either of 'em. g np: ATOI _Integration_ (SEOFON remix)
