In among the lovely reviews of compressors &c. in the latest issue of Sound
on Sound is an interview with Autechre. I've only skimmed through it but
there are some interesting insights.
This morning I listened to last night's Mixing It, the final track of which
was Sqpr's Massif. Mark Russell prefaced it with a little story about how
he'd been 'browsing around the internet' and found that Jenkinson had a
fanatical following in America, particularly in California...Well, I
allowed myself a little smirk. The Fresh phenomenon touches even the
rarefied heights of Radio 3.
I'm pleased to add my praise to that already accorded the new Mouse on Mars
_Instrumentals_ release - definitely darker than _Autoditacker_ but no
worse for that.
Can anyone advise me whether I should go to see Roni Size perform tonight?
Is the live experience much better than the album (which from my very
limited exposure sounds rather tepid)?
