I'm not really a fan, but I listened to the new album today (finally out in the U.S.), and was mildly impressed; that is, compared to his last one, =Music for Babies,= which was the most aptly titled LP I've seen in a while. (If I had nothing to do for nine months it might seem welcome, but out of the womb...I dunno.) Anyway, =Turn the Dark Off= (get it?) has a bit more going on, with shuffling trip-hop (verging on big-beat) rhythms and some cool effects that you'll dig if you were in on the Lalo Schifrin '60s Soundtrack thread of several thousand posts ago. A spoken-word collaboration with Robbie Robertson (the Band) is as terrible as can be imagined, but other than that, it's not bad...I'll give it a 7 1/2. ------------- MyTwoSense. ------------------- JohnBush.
