Ok. I have no bias as to whether Spooky is a good or bad DJ. His show i went to was interesting, and i would go again, but i completely understand where people are coming from in their critisism of him. Maybe if i saw him a second time, i might start to hate it. In any case, here is my question: I still have yet to hear a good sound explanation for WHY DJ Spooky is making money and playing all these raves and being a spokesman, etc..., if the majority hates him and his style? The economics doesn't make ANY sense whatsoever. Eventually, word would get around, and people would stop buying tickets to his shows and whatnot. He wouldn't get hired anymore in a scene where apparently he is not wanted. Any concrete explanations? My question is purely from curiosity, not to prove any points, so no flaming! I think people just eat up his liner notes, and then base their opinions of his music on that (we must remember that some people don't really *listen* to music, and "oh ya man its this totally abtrakt trippy whack shit, way deep man").. --brett On Thu, 16 October 1997, at 20:06:07, phlux@ix.netcom.com wrote: [ lots of quoted crap deleted ]
