I think when people immediately relate music to genre and catogorise (which
I did in defining my style), others will automatically assume the music is
like something else they've heard directly in terms of another artist. This
doesn't have to be the case. For me at least Jazz influenced drum & bass
does not have its perameters defined by the artists you mention. I have
original ideas. I also think if you really know D 'n' B you'll know the
scene in England at least is predominatly DARK & HARD. I've heard of the
artists you mentioned but have only heard some of squarepushers stuff. I
don't listen to much current stuff at all, at least not from the genres of
music I try to make music in, it helps with fusion of styles/ideas and
*hopefully* not being influenced with the current trends. I won't deny I'm
influenced by all the music I hear, the stuff I love and the stuff I
detest. I'm a bit like a sponge, but not soft in the head. Intertextuality
anyone?

Would you like a copy of the sound-a-like tapes also? I'll send you a tape
of my stuff too, and then you can judge for yourself if I sound like the
artists you have mentioned. Maybe you can review in your web-zine? is there
a URL for this or is it posted.

How about this list redefining what it see's as intelligent dance music, if
the artists are doing it, shouldn't we be?

Were all discussing stuff which is perfectly valid for this list (excuse
the 'PD' remarks). Anyway, if you don't like what you see, don't read it,
scroll or delete messages like everyone else...
