It' called "Matrix" and it's a 2cd set; but only one CD of music. The 2nd CD is just all the samples they used to create "Solutions for a Small Planet." Decent, certainly, but way too "standard" idm, whatever that means, less of haujobb's ebm slant (which made SFaSP so interesting). Is it just me, or is Cichlisuite really mediocre (and at the moment, Autechre is probably my most listened to group of musicians). And isn't the Autechre remix of Merzbow absolutely stunning?

It's just you. I thought it was stunningly better than the last album.

i must be extra-cool, i thought both were really good! on the bjork subject, i haven't been arsed to read most of it, but firstly, why pick on cylob? i'm sure he didn't start out making music to be compared to anybody else - what he does is what he does, and what bjork does is what bjork does. whoever claimed him to be an aphex-copycat - alright, go back to bed saddo, listened to 'kobal' lately? i thought not you've got to remember that bjork is a singer and songwriter, and not a producer/engineer/composer in the mould of the modern techno producer. her records are born of a collaborative effort, and there are no shortage of musicians ready to take up the task of working with her, obviously they find it worthwhile, and i doubt it's for the money only. she doesn't want to work with the same production team over and over again for the same reason your average techno bod doesn't want to pick up a guitar and play heavy metal.. if you don't like her music, it's your choice, she isn't exactly here to serve your underground tastes. i don't think she's done anything good since 808 state, but that's my little personal opinion, what i'm not doing is measuring her on the rephlex yardstick of underground-ness cos that's a sack of crap, you may as well be talking about david hasselhoff for what good it would do you. on a tangential subject, us idm fans are supposed to be guardians of individuality, against being told what to do by others, protectors of musical freedom. the funny thing is, we seem to be quicker to put down people's tastes and say what is good or bad than anyone out there! i think we're all guilty of that. there are certainly ways to have an argument about music, but it's always best to find common ground. and it's a two-way process. you might consider someone who says house music is shit to be a fucking moron, but instead of saying so, maybe ask them why they think that, and see if they can come up with a plausible reason... well, anyway.. cheerio! np - fresh mess - knights of the turntables ----- -------- subconscious geography map one - contaminated by technique ----- --------
