hmm... us aphex releases have always had little sire logos on them. what about the US releases of the artificial intelligence series? waxtrax!/tvt. oh no! that's the label (tvt) that trent reznor started out on! better not listen to (or buy) those anymore! lfo's first album was released here on tommy boy. the label a record is distributed through does not affect the quality of that music *especiallY* if that label is just distributing. i'm sure that the record companies get a pretty good percentage of the sales, but that's probably it. people who won't listen to squarepusher just cause he's on nothing?!? they probably wouldn't have been able to handle him in the first place, then.

you said it yourself, you are *not* reasonable. elitist, maybe. close-minded, quite possibly. i'm happy when groups i like release stuff. if i can get their new stuff at roughly the same time, and at a much better price, on a US label, then i'm going to buy it. it's not like trent's going to be writing all of autechre's music from now on. it's good to see that college stations are so forward thinking. alan! ps how many warp releases does your station get, anyway?

i think what people are afraid of is reznor owning all electronic that comes out, and ill admit that he sure now has a lot of it (plug, tj, autechre). itd actually be less unnerving to a lot of people if sire had an exclusive deal with warp, because sire is pretty faceless, while nothing has reznor's personal taste splattered all over it, and hes pretty clueless and seems to be singing these artists just on the basis of them being electronic (drum n bass for papa? what's next, urmur bile vol. 3 and 4?), while its common for small labels to get a distribution deal with majors, like when indie rock was still selling, so go for sire i guess. jiffrey b
