Is Mapstation just the name Stefan DJs under, or is there music out there by him? I'm a big fan of To Rococo Rot, and when it comes to the collaborators other projects much prefer Kreidler to the others. Given that Stefan Schneider is the common link the possibility of more stuff involving him at least piques my interest. Mapstation just released a self-titled album on Soul Static Sound last week. I dont have it myself but plan on picking it up as soon as finances permit. The writeup certainly makes it sound worthwhile - here it is from the Bent Crayon mailout: > > MAPSTATION: s/t CD/LP (SOUL STATIC SOUND). . If you enjoy Stefan Schneider sound, check out the Schneider TM releases on City Slang. Schneider TM's Moist cd was one of the best releases of '98 plus the Uptight & Masters ep were also excellent. Schneider TM has also done a host of remix appearances for the likes of High Llamas, The Pastels, Peter Thomas, Turner, and Laub to name a few... Schneider TM also did a cute little Pong cd-rom thing. For more info on Schneider TM as well as an mp3 and a working demo of their cd-rom pong game, visit the City Slang website (which also hosts info on To Rococo Rot, Trans Am, Tortoise, and more) at: http://www.cityslang.com/ -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I don't think he did do a remix of The Pastels. I have the first three remix CDs you mention (High Llamas, Pastels, Peter Thomas Sound-Orchester) and was always amused by the number of overlap between any given two of them, but I'm sure the Pastels' 'Illuminati' is the release which doesn't have a mix by Schneider TM. I picked up Moist mid last year and it hasn't _really_ impressed me. Some parts I really liked, but I only ever think to listen to it if prompted. BTW, in case anyone reading is confused, Schneider TM is not a Stefan Schneider project, just another of the "neo-Kraut" (or whatever) acts. Schneider TM's an alias that Dirk Dresselhaus records under. Ok, I just checked and you are correct. There isnt a Schneider TM remix on the Pastels remix album. The overlad between the High Llamas remix album confused me. : )

Fair enough. For me the driving percussion of tracks like Moist, Raum in Ort, and Up-tight as well as the quirkiness of tracks like Moonboots and Masters are what makes Moist a germanic jewel to my ears. But to each his own...

Sorry, I guess I wasnt clear enough in my original post. Despite the name similarities, Schneider TM isnt by Stefan Schneider. Thanks for clarifying that Michael! -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
