G'day, Just thought I'd remind some of the Aussies on this list (and anyone from o/s that wants to make the trip) about the lineup for this year's Livid festival here in Brisbane on Oct 4. As well as the usual suspects (Dinosour Jr/Ween/Cake/Reef/etc), there is a not-too-shabby IDM contingent: Sneaker Pimps, Jimi Tenor, Amon Tobin, Dj Vadim, and Ollie Teeba from Herbaliser. And best of all: the only Australian show by DEVO. See ya there. Cheers, Geoff

Yep, it's looking good, can't wait to see one of the rare devo live performances. Other Australian cities may also be able to catch up with the Ninja troupe (Ollie Teeba, DJ Vadim and Amon Tobin) as part of the stealth tour. From their web page (http://www.obsolete.com/pipe/ninja/tune.html): Thurs 25 Sept Australia, Brisbane TBC Fri 26 Sept Australia, Melbourne Sat 27 Sept Australia, Sydney TBC Sun 28 Sept Australia, Adelaide TBC Sat 4 Oct Australia, Perth TBC Here's hoping the TBCs become confirmations. On a related note, and at the risk of being flamed to death by some of the less tolerant list members, I am going to BEYOND THE BRAIN this weekend in Byron Bay. These are excellent parties which try to break down some of the ridiculous barriers imposed by our scene: 2000 people will be able to here Trip Hop, Experimental, Goa, House, Dub, World Music, Ambient, and probably many more styles at the one party! And there will be installations and performance art! And it is across the road from an excellent surf beach! I've attached the blurb below. Later, Nigel Ward------------------------Think Cosmically, Act Sub-Atomically email: nigel@dstc.edu.au * BEYOND THE BRAIN Saturday, September 20th 9pm-8am Epicentre, Byron Bay NSW, Australia Welcome to a celebration of musical innovations, media explorations and altered-state creations.
