Hey all, I caught Aphex at Big Top in Dallas last night....awesome show. Played about 4 tunes I couldn't recognize (one of them might have been an extremely bass-y version of Heliospan); Really messed up versions of To Cure a Weakling Child, Didgeridoo, and Girl/Boy. Also played Come to Daddy and the LOUDEST version of Logon Rock Witch I've ever heard. I was within about 10 ft of him the whole show, and I appropriately told him he was "the fucking daddy" during a quiet point. He was on the couch, and he had the bears w/him....I got hugged by a bear! :) Also had a guy minus his bear suit come out in a towel, shake the water off his head onto the crowd, then take off the towel and jump around naked for a few mins. Other highlights of Big Top were Eat Static, Empirion, and 808 State. If anyone else was there, I was the guy wearing the "Eat Garlic" shirt. --Matt

It didn't seem that Chris actually knew he was being made fun of most of the time. poor guy. --brian rachielles brachielles@juno.com www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/club/4980 idm review archive: www.geocities.com/paris/metro/9160/idm.htm

Putting the name stuff aside for a moment, I just have to say that the new Influx on Isophlux (say it fast three times) is fucking AMAZING. Without a doubt some of the best stuff to emerge from the US this year. Go pick it up, it's only 5 bucks on the domestic tip and it's certainly the equal of anything that's been released recently on some of those other uk labels. Thank christ we're finally starting to see some brilliant music released here in the US and labels that support artists of our beloved sub-genre. If your local store isn't carrying it bug them. Had a listen to the KCRW interview with Richard this morning, which was actually taped a week ago at CMJ. Afx was barely audible (hehe) and seemed to stump poor Chris Douridas at every turn. I felt kind of sorry for him.

Gorgonzola, you're a fuck nut! In case anyone was puzzled by this one, Science is a local jungle weekly (promoted by Raymond Roker of Urb magazine) that most of my friends aren't asked to play at and I, among others, will not step foot in. I did once and once only, because my homeboy nico was in town and booked to play there (along side fierce). I swore that I wouldn't go back, even if tom 'the motherfucking man' jenkinson were to play there. I've missed people like photek, lemon d, doc scott, ed rush, dj rap and many others because of my disdain for Ray Ro's 'SO YOU THINK YOU KNOW JUNGLE?' attitude. Well, it looks like nico (and ed) are booked there again this weekend and since I'm overseeing their stay (and driving them around), I've got to go against my better judgment (and stupid principals) and roll with it. So there you have it. peace out, brock out. np: nada...
