i know i should be looking somewhere else for this info, but i don't know where. i have a PC and am looking to buy a burner for rewritable CDs. i would like to be able to insert track points (ie. track 1, track 2...) wherever i like over the course of a long piece of audio, but i understand that a lot of burner software will give you a momentarily gap of silence between tracks when you do this. is there a burner and/or burner software that i can get that will let me insert tracks where i want, without setting me back $1000?? thanks in advance for any help. g. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

For a while, Smart & Friendly was selling kits with Sonic Foundry's CD Architect bundled in at no extra charge. Look around for that. The stuff they usually bundle with CDRs can't do that. Wavelab can burn CDs with good control over track markers, and is a great audio editor besides. Under $300... kent williams -- kent@avalon.net On Fri, 3 Mar 2000, Allen, Gordon wrote:

Almost ALL burning software will let you select between DAO (disc-at-once/No gaps) and TAO (track-at-once/Gaps) writing. Some use DAO as default and some don't, but there are very few programs which won't let YOU choose. It's definitely a software thing. In order to burn DAO, you must first rip tracks to your hard drive (which means you'll need space to do so) or at least make an image. Adaptec's EZCDCD 3.5 does a pretty good job (despite what some people may tell you) as does CRWin. CD Architect does an even better job (especially if you have Sound Forge on your system...great editing capabilities). Nero isn't too shabby, either. jeff "Allen, Gordon" wrote:

My solution would be to cut your CD long .wav in track pieces and then burn them using disc-at-once feature in your burning software (I use Adaptec EasyCD 4.0). I think any conventional CD-Writer on the market would do that. Just make sure it has disc-at-once feature. Alien np: Electric Sheep - Locust Lunch ps. As far as I know rewritable audio CDs play only in CD-ROMs and most of the conventional CD players won't play them. ----- Original Message ----- From: Allen, Gordon <gordona@chn-rcs.ca> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Friday, March 03, 2000 9:46 PM Subject: (idm) off topic CD-R question. sorry. ) i know i should be looking somewhere else for this info, but i don't know ) where. ) ) i have a PC and am looking to buy a burner for rewritable CDs. ) i would like to be able to insert track points (ie. track 1, track 2...) ) wherever i like over the course of a long piece of audio, but i understand ) that a lot of burner software will give you a momentarily gap of silence ) between tracks when you do this. ) ) is there a burner and/or burner software that i can get that will let me ) insert tracks where i want, without setting me back $1000?? ) ) thanks in advance for any help. ) g. ) ) ) ) ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- ) To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org ) For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org ) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
