Hello all, I wanted to say I was sorry for posting the mp3 post, I also would like to say that I totally thought this list was about musicians connecting and discussing music and what they were doing. Mr Brock and a few others have made it apparent to me that this is not the place for it, and chose public bashing as the method for which informing me of this. I apologize for my enthusiasm, but didnt deserve quite the harshness I received. I think giving people nicknames is quite immature and uncalled for. I dont stoop to that level. Besides I think certain people have "personal issues" (regarding the co-worker he spoke of) helping them form their opinions of the music Azmo and I make. Considering Brock has never sat in on a studio session with 1302, I consider the comments about my "taste" based on pure ignorance. Again I apologize to all the list members. Have a nice day and keep electronic music alive. Perhaps, I missed alot of this "thread". I agreed with everything Brock said. The self promotion thing can get out of hand. There are alot of pointless post on this list. I don't really see why there needs to be 20 posts saying something is good, unless you are ADDING something to FURTHER the topic. Maybe I am a bit jaded because I have hung out in too many record stores over the last decade. Almost everytime someone has tried to boast or brag about their skills as a dj or that they are awesome (dope, whatever), they usually ended being really bad. Seriously, I have never been impressed with a single one of these suckers. Naturally, when I hear someone doing this I think "oh great here we go again another supposed genius in his own mind". It's usually the more humble guys that impress me the most, I don't know...maybe they let the music (or mixing) speak for itself. Sorry I can't finish this thread, I have to work. Hi again slick. Nice to see that rather then respond to a private message, you dragged it back out into IDM. Very mature of you. List members, this WILL be the last post from me on this subject. :-)

Unfortunately, you were operating under semi-false pretenses. It IS about 'the musicians', on one (small) level, but mostly it's for ALL list members to discuss the MUSIC they love/hate. Big difference as not ever person subscribed is a 'musician'.

Well if you don't listen to reason, what IS supposed to happen? I'd imagine that every new subber reads the idm site on hyperreal AND gets a copy of the FAQ. If new listers would read these documents, wait a while and watch the dynamics of the list before posting, using a bit of restraint should save ANYONE a bit of bashing. But no...some people don't EVER listen what anyone has to say. And I've been saying this shit for months. Anyone remember recent the mass exodus of old school list members?

It's NOT your enthusiasm that's the problem here slick. Here's a little analogy that I sent to slick that I guess he didn't quite understand...some of you other offenders might:

This is the way unmoderated mailing lists are kept in check. By public rule/debate. If you piss off enough people, you will be bashed.

'Slick' is not your real name.

Um, actually, no. This has nothing to do with personal reasons. I even said that I've been 'nice' so far because he a co-worker of a friend. The funny thing is that I downloaded all of 'slicks' music at HIS private request, months ago. I found it lacking then and still do, enough so that I deleted them all after first listen. I ignored the fact that every post slick made to IDM was a BSP. And even sillier, every time I'd make a post about listmember artists spam, slick would immediately come back with one of his 'deadpan' bullshit posts, which I find EXTREMELY disrespectful. Thru conversations with slick's co-worker, I've had some insight into his 'tastes' and that of his partner. I also happen to know what gear he favors and what he doesn't. Hence the tongue in cheek nickname. I'd say that all these things make my comments based on something a bit sharper then 'pure ignorance'.
