Let me apologize in advance for airing my dirty laundry publically on the list, but if I have pissed off a lot of people as Aca will mention, I need to address the list as a whole: Aca wrote :

It's really hard for me to make heads or tails of Gil's business relationship with the list. I know he has not owned up to numerous trades and purchases in the past, but I also know that in the three times I've dealt with him - I've received the goods or the dough in a little amount of time and with no headaches. I don't know why he's so good to me and why he's my pal; we share an uncanny interest in music and it's creators and love to gab about music endlessly. When I made the two mentions about Gil in my Clear Guide, I suppose I was taking a piss on the list's bad habit of dwelling on old and somewhat tired subjects. IDM had great potential, but it's been blemished by bad blood, guts from beaten horses, and phlegm from tired personal attacks. I'm not trivializing other people's misfortunes; not by far. I've been the subject of bad trades three times in two years. But, it's beyond my control now and would rather not dwell on it. If it's well documented that Gil Gershman has ripped off so many people on IDM, why is it necesary to continue dragging his name in the mud on a seemingly weekly basis? Why kick a man when he's down? It seems to me that he's trying to give *something* back to the list with his numerous reviews and information. I've learned over time that it's impossible to change list member's dispositions on anything, especially bad traders. I just hope that Aca and others will understand my position and experience as well. Please take my Gil comment as a playful jab about the list; at worst - a subtle desire to MOVE ON from Gil bashing, vinyl vs. cd debates, and name calling.

I've travelled far and wide, throughout the United States and worldwide via the Internet. _Bantha_ has eluded my grip and my ears for two years. Gil's auction was my first real opportunity to get the 12" since I became interested in Clear and Mike Paradinas [except for one regrettable instance when I flaked out of kung funk's auction last spring. sorry, steve.] To me, $20 is not an unfair price to expect for a rare single. I don't feel cheated at all; I'm just paying the price for passing up this record twice in two years. I've been unreasonably lucky with rare shit ever since I've become interested in the scene. _Bantha_ was just not one of those instances...

With additional forethought, I realize that maybe the two Gil comments were not in my best interest. However, Gil is a good friend of mine now, and it hurts to see him verbally beaten consistenly. He's been good to me since I've 'met' him, and I feel that a little defense in his corner every now and again is deserving of the way he treats me. I only wish that he treated others with the same respect he shows me. My words were not meant as an irritant and I apolgize if they were taken as such. If I've lost any credibility with anyone on the list, I only hope I can work ten times as hard as I have and begin to regain the trust lost in the defense of a friend. Tirades like this are the reason why I dislike this list from time to time. Grant.

it seems as if Gil can't even auction right! I bid $25 on the TUSKIN RAIDERS 12", and it seems as if favoritism is at hand. he will sell to a "good friend" for less than the highest bid! why bother! In a message dated 8/15/97 8:18:40 AM, ghhorne@DELTA.IS.TCU.EDU (maker of all) wrote:
