To anyone on this list who has been trying to email me and has been getting messages returned....sorry. The server here at work shit the bed.....it's back up now. Please re-send it. Oh.... so I can make this message more IDM related... (Note...this is for all you fellow composers out there!) Just figured out the mathematical formula for layering a loop running at 1/4triplet half time(3/4 feel) against 1/4 notes (4/4) feel....for example take a loop at 128. Say you wanted to freak a mad hip-hop feel in a break without slowing down the tempo. Divide 128 (or whatever BPM you are at) by 3, then multiply that number by 2. You would get 85.666 BPM... Step write it in at 1/4 triplet time extending over 2 measures (because it is half-time ya know)... Freaky fun grooves man......try it... although it may not work with every groove. And you thought math was useless after high school..... Peace, James Bernard

very cool. here's two of my favorites: 240/BPM = length of a one bar loop in seconds (very handy for time stretching algorithms) 30000/BPM = 16th note delay in microseconds (very handy for digital delay) -- Jon Drukman jsd@gamespot.com SpotMedia Communications ...I was an infinitely hot and dense dot...
