I hadn't heard any Metamatics until I saw the disc in a local store with no price tag. I knew it was a full-length, but asked the clerk about the price while holding the back-side up (where the numbers 01, 02, 03 and 04 appear). He charged me for a CD single so I paid $9 (and no, I don't feel bad...this is the same store that's charging $23.99 for "Big Loada" [and has sold five copies, they tell me]) Plus, also: I believe the two Sandoz LPs are being reissued soon (probably in the States). Though I haven't been impressed with Kirk or Electronic Eye, the one Sandoz track I've heard (off =New Electronica 4,= the sample goes "I represent the 20th-century smile...") was incredible. Are the albums worth it, and do they cover similar ground? Thanx in advanx. As well, in addition: Someone was asking about the confusion regarding Miles Davis reissues. The American ones are five double-disc live sets, unreleased in the U.S. until now. There are also about 20 Japanese reissues of readily available albums (from =Round About Midnight= right up to =On the Corner=) released with 20-bit mastering and cardboard, LP-similar packaging. They are really cool, probably the first LP-similar packaging I've seen that are just as durable as all those classic gatefolds (and dig the even more blatantly misogynistic inside art accompanying =On the Corner=). For all the true groove merchants out there, =Jack Johnson= and =On the Corner= are bloody necessary, while the chill-out crowd can find the roots of their raising in =Filles de Kilimanjaro= and =In a Silent Way.= (Cross-breeders, check out =Live-Evil= and =Bitches Brew=) Out... ---- Fusion Ain't A Dirty Word. --------------------------- John Bush.

Are the albums worth it, and do they cover similar ground? Thanx in advanx. I write: I you dig the Sandoz track off of NE 4, you will like the first two Sandoz records, especially the first one. In order of release date they are Digital Lifeforms and Intensley Radioactive. I consider both to be ambient dub classics, but then again I'd buy practically anything from RHK. Digital Liforms has a more housey 4/4 vibe to it ala the track you refer to from NE 4, whereas Intensely Radioactive covers a wider range of tempos and sounds. I think Intensely is a little more developed and 'original' (not depending too much on the standard 909 bass drum), but (as Miles noted) you can't deny the natural flow that RHK gets going on Digital Lifeforms. I think 'Drum Meditation', a more downtempo bass heavy bloopy dub track off of Digital is pure heaven. Go buy'em both they're worth it. peace Nate Nate Harrison Digital Magician Inc. www.digimagician.com nate@digimagician.com 313.994.7316

Digital Lifeforms is pure genius. Intensely Radioactive is uneven but still very worthwhile. I sold Every Man Got Dreaming and I haven't heard the new one yet. -- Miles www.sirius.com/~cullen
