yeah, but the AUTECHRE & PHOTEK is just because it's finally pressed in the
U.S. It was a stink about CLEAR purposely advertising this LIMITED material,
waiting for the retail shops to buy em up from the distributors, and then
announcing a METAMATICS CD, bt never mentioning that it's just the 12"s, and
then at the very last minute (literally, it seemed) it was announced that it
in fact was just the 4x12" tracks. That's a bullshit marketing scam if I
ever heard of one! Retail shops get screwed too! chunked in all that change
for the vinyls... buying up because of it's limited press... forcing CD
buyers to feel like the only chance to get the material is to buy the 4x12"s,
and then dropping the bomb of "it's now on CD" which then instantly stops
vinyl sales at retail shops, who are then stuck with the vinyl.
I'm sure most of the shops got rid of em slowly but surely if they really
tried to put them out the door... but still, I think it's a shitting thing to
do as a label!
WARP is sort of the same with releasing 2 seperate 12"s that SHOULD be just a
double 12" set, since the CDsingle always has both parts for the price of a
CDsingle.
ah.... screw it! Clear hasn't released anything good since the GESCOM 12" in
my opinion. (eh, I like Metamatics, too... but that doesn't count! ;)
