First of all I appreciate all the hard work people have been putting into getting stuff onto the net. I remember not to long ago FSOL talking about how one day we all would be able to log into the net and get the sounds we wanted. I doubted it because of bandwidth issues but with mp3 and ra... But I digress.... Just some advice you can ignore if you want.. If you are doing ra and not streaming <that is allowing one to download the ra file> and not pressed for space why record in 28.8 mode? If it is for download anyway you should record in dual isdn mode. Better quality and sounds hell of alot better. I understand if your streaming it because after all most people don't have the bandwith to stream dual isdn. But if they are just dloading you can wait a while longer. Also, consider doing mp3 format instead of ra. It is much easier to convert that format into something useable like wav than ra. And mp3 is better to. Again I thank everyone out there and I mean no ill or disfavor to anyone. I am happy with what I have. Just thought I would lend some advice -dan n.p two long swordsman - swimming not skimming

you are absolutely 100% correct. but i think you should all use .ra anyway. for one, it has low sound quality. no one should be able to go and master a cd off of files they get off the net. if you want to trade .mp3s, do it one to one. i've never compared file sizes for .mp3 and .ra of equal sound quality. so i don't know. i do know that i like that .mp3 is a reasonably open standard while .ra is wholly owned and operated by progressive networks. notice that i began this with "for one,". i am not going to close this by listing "number two" or "lastly", rather, i will end it here.

I disagree. Real audio is fine for material that is available and can be purchased to get a taste of it, but for material that is unavailable use .mp3. Not that I don't appreciate hearing AB5 in real audio-it was nice to hear and appreciated, but .mp3 would have been preferrable. T.
