For what it's worth, I need to correct my previous Lamb post ...
I spoke with Andy when I saw Lamb last night, and asked him about
Gorecki. The song obviously IS a tribute to the composer, but it
doesn't actually contain any samples of Gorecki's work. The "euro
melancholy" (as a fellow listmember put it) strings in the track
are the work of their stand-up bass player, Jon. I watched him
play the parts live, fixated on his strings as he bowed them ...
Nice bass work throughout the show: plucked, slammed, struck or bowed.
The show was great. They really got the crowd groovin'!
Also, for those of you interested, Andy mentioned that a double CD will
be their next release ... one live disc (hopefully with that a ha ha ha
track on it) and a second disc of remixes.
Eagerly awaiting the Panasonic show next Saturday ...
