This one has been sampled to the first ambient house hit 'Sueno Latino'; also Carl Craig used it, so many of you might recognize the piece. I just got the excellent '7 Up' album, which Ash Ra Tempel (featuring Manuel Göttsching) recorded with Timothy Leary in 1972. It just starts with Brian Barritt's and Leary's(!) amusing blues crooning pastiche 'Downtown' and turns to totally tripped-up space music (guess what was in that 7-Up ;) . On a similar tip, I can also recommend another recent purchase of mine, 'Galactic Supermarket' album by Cosmic Jokers, a Krautrock "super group" which featured Göttsching and Klaus Schulze, among all. Many people might get scared about this stuff but believe me, it's light years away from the pompous prog-rock of the same era... I've collected some texts and info on Krautrock to http://www.sci.fi/~phinnweb/krautrock.html so if you're on a same wavelength, check it out. And BTW, it's my birthday (Leo)!!! I'd invite you all to have some (space ;) cake with me but I suppose Tampere, Finland is too far away for most of you folks ;)
