if you're in the san francisco area, turn on 98.1 FM. for the past two days there's been nothing but a weird gonging sound and electronic ticking, occasionally overlaid with samples from well known science fiction movies or tv shows. usually that's a classic rock station... now it's like eno on acid or something. -- Jon Drukman jsd@gamespot.com SpotMedia Communications ...I was an infinitely hot and dense dot...

Don't get your hopes up. Playing weird crap is usually what radio stations do when they are converting from one crap format to another crap format. The classic rock station here did something on the same order for several days when they switched to country. They don't expect that any mutants out there are actually going to enjoy that more than their normal programming.

Indeed. Now they've switched over to standard Top 40. Considering the traffic this generated on the SF Raves list, I suspect as marketing tool to the 18-25 crowd there might it was successful. Joe ObIDM: The Reflection album on Clear. Buy it! Electronic jazzfunk how it should be. He puts them on and off and you never know! I've never seen :) (: anything like it!" :)

Hey, I just tuned in. Pretty cool! I think I'll make a tape of it. A voice just came on that said "You are witnessing the actual birth of a radio station. What you hear will continue tomorrow and a thousand tomorrows after that. 98.1 KBGG" Funny, my friend and I would always make fun of the call letters when we listened to the station before (they called it K-BIG) - "It's REALLY big. Big 98.1", "I can't fit THAT in my ear. Big 98.1", "The biggesthits in your face. K-BIG." Um. Anyway. =) This station stunt reminds me of the time another station played the beginning 15 seconds of "2 legit to quit" OVER and OVER. At least the 98.1 thing sounds good... Oh, and thanks for the tip. - Bobby
