I'm going to post another edition of reviews this evening at some point but just want to say in advance now that I got the Gramm CD a couple days ago and it has been in constant rotation (even above the Boulderdash CD everyone is speaking so highly of). This album is absolutely incredible and one of the best in the new microsound/ clicks and cuts genre. Jan Jelinek is phenomenally talented. Every bit the realization of his potential as evidenced on the stellar Farben 12"s. If anybody on this list hasn't picked this up yet: do it! First essential full-length of 2000 and absolutely mesmerizing. I want to second Matt's praise of this one. It is my album of the year so far. I will also have a small Farben, Gramm., Jan Jelinek web page up shortly. : ) -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yes, the posts are in reference to Gramm's Personal_Rock cd/2xlp on Source. But you should also check out the three excellent Farben 12"s on Klang Elektronik as well. I personally got all my Farben & Gramm releases at http://www.bentcrayon.com but I'm sure you can find them at most of the better online shops. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yeah, it'll be 'Personal Rock'. I got my copy from Bent Crayon (http://www.bentcrayon.com/). My opinion on it is that it's too much for a single listen. Still, screw it, hit shuffle and listen til you get bored. :) Really nicely constructed, beautiful atmospheres. I'm very impressed that, even though it's well within its little genre, it shows evidence of some wider listening or interests rather than just band-wagon jumping or something more sinister. Actually, Farben releases pre-dated a time when he could've been accused of bandwagon jumping, but what I'm really trying to say is that something in the release cries out "solid foundations!" to me. :) Michael np. If everyone likes Gramm you may want to check out Vladislav Delay. He has a track on the butt ass clicks and cuts comp. There's also a track on the function 2 comp, I don't think you can still find that comp. Mille is going to re-release one of the best recordings of the last few years Vladislav Delays "ele" which is top on most lists, I highly recommend getting this if you can still find the orginal sigma edition. Tight shit. Also his work w/tom brinkmann and friends #5 is the shit of shit. -scott --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Last I checked A-Musik (the on-line store) has copies of 'Ele'. The Mille Plateaux release is out, and features 2 out of 3 tracks from 'Ele', along with several more... With each track being around 20 minutes missing one is a bit more of a significant loss than you might at first think. Anyway, I think I've ranted about Vladislav Delay enough on here, but I would say as a point of distinction between what he does and what someone like Gramm is doing is that the VD material is far more "jerky". Rhythms don't always match up neatly.. not that he isn't just as repetitive, but the individual phrases are often quite rhythmically twisted in themselves. Fantastic stuff, IMO! Michael np.
