Okay, here is the final word (hopefully) to explain just how things work with the Ninja empire over here in North America. We manufacture all full length (starting from ZENCD25/NTONECD17) CD titles domestically. We will be reissuing some of the more in demand titles early next year. This doesn't include any titles that were released under our previous deal with Instinct/Shadow as they still own these titles for a few more years. These should be in shops priced somewhere around $14.99-$15.99 (doubles around $16.99). Depending on where the shop purchases from this might vary a dollar or so each way. All vinyl (12"s and LP's) are only manufactured in the UK. The fact is we get a really good price from our pressing plant over there and it works out cheaper for us to just send them over here. Also, I think the quality is much better than we can get over here (as a DJ I know I would want the UK pressing) Therefore... the vinyl still has the UK adress on it but is sold via our exclusive distributor (Caroline) at domestic prices. Our sub-distributors (Pulse Soniq, Watts, etc...) should also have it for a reasonable price (but it will probably be slightly higher). It is possible that these releases still get into shops at higher prices as the shops might be purchasing from other one-stops (ie. fourth generation markup) or from UK suppliers. All I can say is shop around. CD singles and CD-EP's. Same thing as vinyl. However, starting with Coldcut 'More Beats and Pieces' we are manufacturing all these titles domestically. Hopefully that clears things up for all who asked. Things we are working on... Coldcut 'More Beats and Pieces' and 'Let Us Play', Amon Tobin 'Piranha Breaks', Mr Scruff single, DJ Vadim 'USSR Reconstruction', Kid Koala single, 'Ninja Cuts 3', Journeyman 'National Hijinx', Animals On Wheels LP, 'Tone Tales from Tomorrow 3', and oh so much more... Take Care Ninjas

I don't know how long this deal has been in place but I have yet to see it. I am in Chicago. I shop at two different stores regularly. Both places have ninja 12" for $9.99. I've also seen the same at a couple of different stores in Minneapolis. Perhaps ninjtune should figure out who is responsible for such widespread price gouging in the US. I work in one and regularly see the weekly new release sheets from distributors. We *don't* get our Ninja stuff from one-stops. Here's the problem: This is *directly* from this week's Pulse Soniq list: Lee Curtis / wild palms What we Fear / kickin' Back ninja Tune ZEN1259...Ninja presents a two-off showcase featuring two producers and a host of no-star cameos in this second installment of an occasional series. Lee Curtis Connection found two old and forgotten gems and sold them to a Ninja he met at the end of the street. Wild Palms run from a drunken past with ambient strummed funk. import Acid Jazz/Trip Hop 5.99 12" lcw-wha 1180 Override Scam ep Ntone NTONE22...Override is the work of Tom Withers, best known for his releases on Certificate 18 as Klute, with releases also on Kushti's Octopus and SSR. This one time drummer for the notorious punk band The Stupids pounds out his third Override project, with ultramodern "lushbient" jazz sliding into dark, minimal areas inhabited by those Ipswich boys, and energetic breakbeats. import Jungle 5.99 12" ove-sca 1189 -- The prices listed are the *cost* to the retailers, *not* the retail price, just so you know. Note the label "import" on each 12". This pricing is typical of imports. Since Pulse Soniq and all other distributors are going through Carloine to get the Ninja 12"s they are bumping up the price to normal import prices, desptite the lower price they may be getting from Caroline. Perhaps Caroline is not going low enough in their pricing to the distributors. I don't know. All I know is that unless stores go through Caroline directly, apparently, they will be forced to charge normal import prices for Ninja 12"s at present. | E r i c | [mail] franse@engr.arizona.edu | | F r a n s | [web] http://engr.arizona.edu/~franse | "Make the events occur that you want to occur" - The Black Dog
