Jesus. Let us have our fun. When good taste and judgement is away, the
Americans will play. It happened with the flappers, the beats, the hippies,
and disco-dancers, and
now the heralders of electronica. American teens were in desparate need of
something to be embarrassed about ten years from now, and rock'n'roll and
baggy jeans just wasn't doing the trick. Along comes Keith Flint and the
Prodigy - and finally! Something I can be spoon fed now - and completely
regret enjoying at the turn of the century.
America has had a constant craving for bad taste for a long time. We gobble up
whatever seems to be tacky and trendy at the moment [sfx-action films,
gangsta rap,
z-cavariccis, arsenio hall] only to purge it from our acidic stomachs a few
months and a couple of pale comparisons later.
No wonder bulimia is such a problem in this country.
