It's not even so much being a "musician" that changes one's perception as
much as just being involved in the industry to any degree. In either case,
though, listening to music becomes research rather than simply
entertainment. Like Jon, it has raised my overall standards, but it has
actually widened my horizons a bit so that I do appreciate the merit in
forms that I might otherwise ignore.
