Yeah. So, I'm back and re-subbed to IDM after over two months. First thing first... I want to comment on the _Come See Come Saw_ cd ep by Parcmutzle. I've had it since before Christmas, and absolutely love it. This is a disc which I can put into my cd player, set on repeat and leave in for hours at a time. Music to concentrate by. Music to take a mid-afternoon nap with. Very nice... reminds me of early-ish Locust or even some of the Dot stuff. The first song, "First", has that sort of Autechre-clone feel to it with lush SAW.2 ambience permiating through the background. "Second (live in CA)" is very Locust-ish. Like what you'd hear on _Weathered Well_ or _Natural Composite_. Same type of Van hoen looping too. And it's supposedly `live'? Hm... couln't tell at all. High production values indeed. "Third" is one of the stand-outs. Lush vocals embedded in the background... barely there. Glitches and bloops and a disjointed beat carry it away. (Influenced by early Rather Interesting?) Another thing which I don't really see a lot of folks here talk about when they do reviews is the state of the packaging. I'm assuming this is Parcmutzle's first outing? Well, it's damn-good music and it deserves to be pressed onto cd, without settling for the economics of cd-r. And so it has been! The front and back sleeves are printed (not photocopied or laser printed) onto clear ascetate adding a very professional effect. Nice simple layout too, which is very easy on the eye with good use of negative space. Again, this release deserves to get a proper pressing with a complimenting package... which it has! It's obvious this release is someone's `baby'. It sounds as if they've taken a lot of time on the songs themselves as well as how Parcmutzle is being presented. I'm glad I had the chance to hear this ep... definitely something I would buy. I'm gonna keep an eye out for future releases. speaking of, supposedly you can get this one for free directly from Parcmutzle. Get in contact with Emmett <emmett9@home.com>, tell him he's a great guy and he'll probably pop one in the mail for you. You'll love it too I guarantee it. .`-). o o.' christopher miller == evil@fdt.net ' on: Parcmutzle _Come See Come Saw_ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
