hey, Well, I recently discovered the video game "lemmings", and have been spending absurd amounts of time on my roomate's mac. I realize many of you have gone through this addiction years ago.... my question: Who made the music? Its'really great(melodic and nice, reminds me of some cylob I've heard). Anyone else heard this music? Any advice on someone's stuff that I could pick up that sounds similar? I don't mean video-game type stuff with lots of bleaps and happy noises, this seems kinda different.. thanks andy

I'm not sure about the Mac version, but at least the Adlib garbage in the PC version were horrible, so I'm talking about the original Amiga version, whose musics were indeed great. The manual doesn't have any information about the people who made the game, and my old A500 isn't working anymore, but perhaps someone else could check if the game itself has any notice of the composer. Anyway, lots of the music weren't actually new composings, but old tunes with Lemmings-type humorous samples. Some of the best songs in the game were in the levels whose themes were taken from other games by DMA Design (I think), Menace and Shadow of the Beast, and the tracks were just new versions (less samples) of the original musics of those games.

Hmm, well, KLF fellow-travellers Nick Coler and Ian Richardson released a "Lemmings" single under the name SFX a few years back . . . I don't know if they scored any of the actual computer games, though. (I'm looking for this single, by the way.) -- ::: Lazlo (lazlo@swcp.com; http://www.swcp.com/lazlo) ::: Internet Music Wantlists: http://www.swcp.com/lazlo/Wantlists

Yeah, I used to love that game! and one of my favorite parts of that game was the music. The music is actually a compilation of many artists. From Offenbach to Mozart to some modern people (whom I'd list if I knew who they were) but the point is that none of the music of Lemmings is "original" made for Lemmings, it's all a bunch of different songs mixed together from different artists and addapted for the game. -AnalogSquare
