DRUM AND BASS IS DEAD! LONG LIVE BUM AND ASS!
-Timmy?.....
Got some smashing rekkids at the weekend in Brighton.
Weak-willed hit delete now.
Negativland / Truth in advertising 7"
Final / Flow/Openings 7"
Yay 7inchers rock, The Negativland is apparently Negativlands first
ever 7".... (its brand new)..im sure ive seen a 7 about before? must
have been a bootleg... ANYWAY obviously this is excellent and also
pretty hard to describe, if you know Negativland youll love it, if
you dont know Negativland then give it a listen, its like some
twisted sinister radio show from space... hell thats the best i can
do! The 7 is taken from the new album 'disPEPSI'!! The front cover of
the album bares more than a passing resemblence to a Pepsi-can (with
titles like 'Greatest taste around' and 'Taste in mind'), inside the
7 is an insert proclaiming:
'Negativland say that they might go on tour and they might not
it depends what "happens" when the CD comes out. Youll understand
this when you see an hear the CD'....
Looks like theyve done it again!!
Oh Yeah the "Final" 7"!!! described to me by the shop owner as 'sonic
isolationism'...This is really good too, apparently its one or more
members of Godflesh (in Ambient mode).. its from 1995, there were two
sevens in the shop, the gray one which i got (very dense simple melodies..
isolationism is pretty fitting) and a white one which was a lot brighter
and airier (a bit like some of the less bassy and more experimental basic
channel or porter ricks..).. does anyone have any more details on 'Final'?
id like to get hold of a CD.
oh yeah and i swapped a sandwich for a release copy of
the new Spymania; DIAL - The Pause that refreshes..
everything a young boy could need.. 3/4 hip hop,
oddest techno, emerging anti-submarine viruses
and twisted deathnic.. grrrreatt...nniiiicee
