Why does the music industry treat videos the way they do? Why is it so hard to collect IDM videos? Why can't I buy an Orb video as easily as I can an Orb album? Doesn't the industry smell any dollars in this arena? I would think they'd pimp a band any way they could. Rather, I am forced into bad Amp mixing and PAL conversions, plus much sweat and prayer to get 1/20th of the videos I deserve.

I don't have an answer about why you can't buy videos very easily, but if you're like me and don't have cable, check out http://www.mtv.com/video/amp for some clips. -- Chris OnNow: Music with No Name

I asked Greg@warp about the Warp videos at least, and he told me that they were all promos, so I guess that would be why they are so hard to get. but I dunno if other videos are the same or what. I reckon the reason why they are hard to get is because it's not mainstream. __ __\ \ / /_\ \ \_____/ , m7=

Weird. I'd never really thought about this before. My first thought was that music videos are inherently mainstream. Why does music need visuals? If the peice is audio/visual, great, but if it is a peice of music, it seems somewhat silly to have someone go make some visuals for it. Not to mention the shabby content of most music videos (that I've seen anyway, and it has been years). I frankly can't imaging what a squarepusher video would be like. I'd be interested to see, but only if he wants me to. The whole idea is a little bizarre. On Tue, 3 June 1997, at 02:11:29, The Rare Guy wrote:
