Bought the Chomp Samba ep by Amon Tobin - its excellent. Like a drum n bass Weathermen! The first two are great d n b workouts, the third is more jazz based and the furth is just gorgeous - seriously emotive jazz with a stoned guitar being plucked and an uplifting sax piece. Superb bass as well. It is better than the Cujo stuff to my mind - more advanced. top stuff still awaiting the new Biosphere....

Agreed. Very nice 12". Gets regular play lately at this house. And if you liked that, there is a full length by the very same guy being released very soon (like today, I think) on Ninja Tune again. Just picked up the new Amon Tobin 2x12" on ninjatune and I am impressed. It an amazing eclectic mix of downtempo, trip hop and drum&bass. At times its jazzy, funky, hardstep, even samba. Thge breaks are very strained and tight. At times disappearing and coming subtly back. The bass is low and loud. Not a single bad cut on the whole thing. If you liked hard normal daddy you'll love this. It doesn't have the extreme cut up breaks but it certainly is moving in new directions. Any one who thinks breaks is dead should buy this and eat their words. -- Mark Edward Bowen Warmed Breakdown mb@gettins.bche.uic.edu

And if there's any change, Tobin's debut full-length for Ninjatune is pretty hot too.... "Bricolage." Clocks in at just under 80 minutes :) Aaron

I'll turd that that notion. Oops, sorry that was third... Amon Tobin had created a completely new and fresh style of jungle/breakbeat. I've only given the LP one spin, but thought it was pretty fucking wicked. so there... peace out, brock out. np: 3 fans a buzzing, 2 hard drives a grinding and one fridge humming. It's fuck'n hot here in LA...

So just to humor me what's the exact dirt on this Amon Tobin guy? He has a few 12" out and and LP or are they the same thing? What's it called and it's on NinjaTune? What was the release date? Many thanks, Nate PS Actually if I'm not mistaken, "Amon Tobin's" name was credited to some of the 'filler' music between videos on AMP. I seem to recall hearing some dnbish type stuff there that actually sounded pretty interesting... Nate Harrison Digital Magician Inc. www.digimagician.com nate@digimagician.com 313.994.7316

hey bro i just picked up adventures in foam by cujo on shadow records ... its amon tobin ... there is some really good tripped out sound collage and some awesome Dn'B but what really makes me move on this album are his 'trip hop' for lack of a better phrase .. some really densely ;ayered beats and some awesome sounds ... i got my copy at tower out here (yeah i know its tower .. but i was looking for some more kraftwerk to fill my back catalogue holes :) ... take care son matt . annwn . .

Two full length albums: Amon Tobin - Bricolage (Ninjatune) Cujo - Adventures in Foam (NINEBAR/Shadow) One single on Ninjatune (I think) and two singles on NINEBAR. Apparently Shadow is starting a 10" doublepack series, and Cujo is involved. We'll see what happens shortly. Aaron
