The thought of trent making jungle makes some of us who truly love that music cringe. Mostly because trent reznor makes an idiot of himself with his ridiculous tortured soul posturing and his oh im so gloomy marketing gimmicks. I hate to see the music i'm into (aka plug) being associated with that and brought down to that level. >> I've been a big nine inch nails fan since "pretty hate machine". I think musically it he has a lot of talent. But i agree. Not everything in life is all gloom and death. I would love, for once, to hear trent write a song about how happy he was. << i guess when richard d james decided to do a drum and bass track it was ok because its rdj, but if trent reznor decides to dabble in it he is a leech.>> these are speedy dn'b breakbeats, without any talent or anything. Anyone can put out a 300 bpm song and call it drum n' bass but it takes talent to make it good. "The Perfect Drug" is a perfect example of a guy sitting down and saying "ok drum n' bass is getting popular and I want to be ahead of my time so right now I'm going to write a drum n' bass track." when RDJ does a drum n' bass track it's probly more like "Yeah i've been listening to alot of drum n' bass and i think I'm gonna incorporate that into my songs, plus my legion of loyal fans will buy whatever I put out." :-) oh.. and one other thing: RDJ's drum n' bass is GOOD!! I hope to god that if the next nine inch nails album is like this that he at least starts listening to some dn'b and get some real influences ( i said listening- not signing Plug to your label, Mr. Reznor) hey- maybe he'll get someone to do it for him Is RDJ, still doing NIN tracks?? How about this: make the entire next nine inch nails album really a new richard james album with trent reznor vocals! with tiny note at the bottom of each track writh "everything by Richard D. James" it worked on two tracks on "further down the spiral" why not try it for a whole album?? << It just seems ridiculous. Some people consider finding and creating samples and beats an artform in itself, DJ Shadow being an excellent example of this. When Shadow was on Metropolis last Jason Bentley told a story about how when Shadow was here last time he got up at 5am after djing all night so he could go to a swap meet to search the old records for beats. >> will shadow find samples for money?? maybe trent should call him up sometimes mult.

at least they're original. not an amen in sight. trent hired a drummer to play the beats on perfect drug (which were then sampled & chopped up). but on the other hand he pays other people to go looking for good loops! oh my god, where will the heinosity of this man end.

except that most of them are around 160...

let me assure you that that is not a universally held belief.

what do you know about his listening habits? i know for a fact he is listening to "real" jungle, including photek & squarepusher. hell, he's listened to my jungle CD more than once and i *know* that i am the real deal! :) ugh. this is getting ridiculous. i don't even like the perfect drug that much. i just can't believe the idiocy you people are all spewing. get over it. the guy's commercially successful, stuck in a creative rut (lyrically) and he likes jungle. here's how much he cares how you feel about it: not at all. -- Jon Drukman jsd@gamespot.com SpotMedia Communications ...I was an infinitely hot and dense dot...

Because it pisses me off to see something i take seriously devalued by someone who represents the exact oppisite of the ideals behind our blessed IDM (the anti-IDM if you will). Perhaps Mr. Vibert isn't truly aware of what Mr. trent represents as he is significantly less popular in the UK than the US.

oh fuck...just great. i hope it makes him piss in his leather pants. anybody know any HMTL that I can use to keep trent out of the squarepusher site?

here's how much we care about how HE feels: even less. come on john, just admit he's self obsessed, full of shit, and a fucking leech. he represents everything i got into this music to get away from. The ultimate example of what happens when style is valued above content. This isn't about popularity or the charts, it's about credibility (gained on one's own, NOT by association) and believing in what you do as opposed to doing things based on some half-assed image you want to project. _____ / ,-,_) /,_) (/ RESH Live & Direct from the G-Spot, Orange County, California, USA http://www1.linkonline.net/fresh/fresh.htm

I think you've missed the point......when it comes to image and artist representation, A&R and promotors are paid handsomely for that job. Just how close are you to trent anyways? Just because you have artistic differences with his stage personna, doesn't mean he isn't a nice guy, nor a talentless mooch. Luke Vibert seems to like him, Richard James gets along with him, Jack Dangers has had a longstanding relationship with him (remixing that is), and Phil Western seems to dig trent too. It seems you have quite an odd complex about preserving the "underground," yet your indentity of its music is a bit distorted. Aaron
