A friend of mine has asked me to inquire re: this record....... Klaus Shulze's "X" He says this is absolutely stunning, beautiful. Apparently this record was recorded quite some time ago (60's?) and he has only heard it on cassette. Is this in print on vinyl, or cd (vinyl preferable)? What label? Availability? Any help would be most aprreciated. Peace. James

Actually, it was recorded in '78 or 79. It is very beautiful - as long as you don't compare it to the music that inspired it (classical music). "X" is more a hybrid of brooding electronics/sequencer and orchestral instruments, (but used also in a rather textural, hypnotic way (as opposed to emphasizing the typical qualities of "real" classical music - linear development, orchestral color, complex themes, etc.)

Totally. Try cdconnection.com, I'm sure they have it. Vinyl however... good luck. You're likely to find it on either the Brain label (Germany) or Thunderbolt (UK). Ashok np Alan Silvestri "The Abyss" more fusion of electronics + orchestra PS> I saw "The Fifth Element" and have to say that Serra's ST was definitely better than some of his other stuff (like the Big Blue). And truly, only a Frenchman would think of setting a car chase to Rai music!
