anyone seen a comp out there called something about the sheffield underground? several labels & artists represented, none of whom i know. and in a totally unrelated question, any info on the upcoming boymerang lp? i heard a promo in breakbeat science (nyc--the store not the comp). apparently it contains some ep tracks already released... i just picked up boymerang's '94 ep on leaf, and it smokes. phil

It includes a previously unreleased Cabaret Voltaire track, It also features a track from Robert E. Baker (ex ClockDVA) under the name Lure-X, and a track from PsychoAcoustic SoundClash (aka SLBC) who have recently released an excellent album on dutch electronic label Staalplaat. The CD contains sixteen tracks in total from (mostly) unsigned Sheffield artists in a number of different styles but with a leaning towards the electronic. Email Vonalksz@aol.com for more info. Hope this helps! Paul Rafanello intone@warwick.net

It's a decent release - features 4 little Sheff labels (Earth, Breakbutt, Wholesome and 10 Denk) and a load of different acts. Predominant drum+bass feel but all mixed up with a helping of that clonking Sheffield sound. If anyone wants a bit more detailed info on tracks and stuff, e-mail me personally and I'll see what I can do. And kind of on the subject of Sheff... does anyone know if it's true that LFO wanted to remix old Human League stuff, but Phil Oakey didn't like the idea? Sounds cool to me...... Damon.
