Instead of going to get abused by jaded germans, get freaked by slammin New Yorkers! Support local electronic action, boycot euro attitude. Tonight (Friday, April 25) at Acme Underground: MARKET ***(9:00)***- A real NYC trip hop quartet, with chanteuse, drumpads, synths, and a dj. After seeing various DJ's bore their crowds to death so often during recent shows (Alec Empire, DJ Shadow), try seeing a DJ with a real tight ensemble act, really performing as part of a team. Their music is firmly footed in hip hop, with melodies and vocals from outer space. Check it out. Princess Superstar ***(later)***- NYC hip-hop/glam princess with new DJ oriented backup band. Great show-woman, too. I have no idea who these next folks are, but they are playing at various points in the night, too. Some of them have interesting names though. I think one of them is a live S&M show or something... The Pleasure Unit Jesus Chrysler DJ Science Center Sexology with Dr. Ducky Doolittle ACME Underground (formerly Under Acme) 9 Great Jones St. (between Broadway and Lafayette) $7 at door, shows begin at 8:00. -CF
