For anyone who cares to become a home junglist, and has a PC I have
a fun construction kit for ya:
http://soli.inav.net/~kent/music/music_resources.html
(download breakwfp.zip)
What it is: Several popular breakbeats, all sliced into quarter note
increments, and tempo synced to 151 bpm. This is in Microsoft WAV file
format.
If by some chance you have a Turtle Beach Tropez, Tropez+, Maui, or Rio
with sample ram, you can use the included breaks.wfp file to dump the samples
to the card and have them mapped across your keyboard.
I'll be using this stuff for my upcoming live set. And by the way, I've
given a similar treatment to loops from Cylob's "Loops and Breaks"
12" and at some point will upload those. That says "steal these loops"
right on the cover. When you cut this stuff up, it doesn't sound junglish
but it does sound way mad.
There are those who might think that this encourages slavish imitation,
or makes it too easy to produce cookie cutter drum and bass. To these
fine individuals I say: blow me. This is good clean fun.
