hello i would just like to say that, in my opinion, lumping david kristian in with spymania/drill and bass does not do him justice. certainly there's nothing insulting about that comparison, but david kristian's music fits into a category of its own... the term experimental drum and bass gets overused, but does certainly apply to his recent music. what i like about david kristian's take on jungle is that he is one of the few artists who seems to put just as much thought into the quality of the electronics/atmospherics, as he does to the drum and bass... no cliche new age atmospherics, instead it's theremin-like sci-fi weirdness and muffled, drugged-out voice samples...and not a break to be heard, pure programming. if you want to hear some refreshingly original jungle, go for the 12" on drop beat or last year's clubfoot ep on discreet finally, i've posted this before, to no response... i'll try again has anyone heard anything by d'arcangelo outside of the brilliant rephlex ep? i know that they've got 2 cds out on italy's disturbance label as monomorph, as well as releases (under what name though?) on out of orbit and some other cool italian labels (maybe kromode or axodya) that no-one here seems to talk about... you know the ones that rephlex gets all of their artists from??? while i'm at it, if anyone has anything on disturbance that they'd care to review, please do... the reviews of monomorph and it in immerse001 mag (who basically said, if you like rephlex/afx, buy anything on disturbance) have definitely sparked my interest hello? solvent goodbye

hmm, i wasnt really very impressed by The Clubfoot ep. I read an interview with him in The Wire recently where he was boasting that he wrote like 3 songs a day... Unfortunately it sounds like it to me . I love minimal stuff but id rather listen to Spymania for experimental d&b and then listen to some Robert Hood for a good dose of minimal. I also heard the ep on Dropbeat and that didnt move me either. However the Downpour 12" on DropBeat is incredible and very well done, and the 7" is very original too, these two releases have had care taken over them. k.F
