i remember that one.....it is called Eidelweiss by Eidelweiss on Rca records (i think) it is done to the tune of SOS by Abba but it is kind of pop housey dancey stuff (similar to something like Children of the Revolution by Baby Ford) derek

I wonder if anyone can help me out with this. I heard a mad jungle track, the primary voice sample in which was something like "If y'all really like the funky bass" (or possibly "...funky breaks"), repeated several times, then "check this out". Not much to go on, I guess, but if anyone knows the song/artist, I'd appreciate the info. BTW, the DJ told me the song was by the Natural Born Killaz (or poss. Killers, Killerz, etc.) I can't find any reference to this group anywhere! Can anyone confirm their existence? Thanks Nick

If y'all really wanna rock da funky beat, everybody in the house say YEAH. it's called Natural Born Chiller(s).. or something.. I'm currently waiting for the recordstore to restock it. I think this is the Natural Born Chillers 12", out on Urban Takeover records. If I'm correct, NBC are Aphrodite & Mickey Finn. If you like this, try some of Aphrodite's 12"'s - "Re-cuts", "Style from the dark side" and "Magic carpet" (with QED). Funky & rolling jungle tracks. Erm, it's by Natural Born Chillaz and it's fucking TERRIBLE. This is piss-poor daytime-radio-friendly jungle (which is where I hear it about 10 times a day), come on, you've got to do better than this.. Check out DJ Krust's new LP if you're going to invest in some d'n'b.. Why is it that mainstream dance radio shows play the worst junglist tracks like the aforementioned tripe, and rubbish like Geoffrey Williams or some dodgy remix of the Fugees? Note : it always has vocals in it.. Forget about jungle going mainstream, that's bullshit, it's like saying Stasis or UR is mainstream.. Cheerio! What's On The Alien Sound Burger? UFO - Photek

I'm listening to a MP3 right now called Out of Space. It's a D&B track that has a reggae type break in it with someone singing "I'm decending to outer space" and then a speed up vocal sample of someone saying "I'll take your brain to another dimension". The track is stuck in my head, anyone know who it is and from what lp?

Its "Out of Space" from the Prodigy on "Experience". Despite recent Prodigy bashing I still think this first double 12" really stands the test of time. This tune and "Charly" are absolute classics in the develpoment of breaks IMO. -- Mark Edward Bowen Warmed Breakdown mb@gettins.bche.uic.edu

Is the above not actually from "Chase The Devil" though admittedly by Max Romeo and Lee Perry? From Arkology liner notes - "Yeah, 'Chase The Devil', that song was written by me and Lee Perry. Lee Perry is a man who has some contention with the devil. I don't know if he's obsessed with doin' somethin' to the devil. He came up with this song about hangin' the devil up, cuttin' his throat an' throwin' him in the fire! So I say 'You don't have to do that let's just chase him out of earth, send him to outer space to find another race', and right away go into writin' the song" - Max Romeo While I'm on this - if you see 'Arkology' just hanging around in a store somewhere and you haven't already got much dub, BUY IT... ...you'll be glad you did (oh, and even if you have, it's still a lovely package :). "Chase the Devil" is also one of the cuts on the Mastercuts "Classic Reggae" compilation CD (definitive revival reggae mastercuts vol 1). PS: anybody know a good place to mail-order other mastercuts CD's in the USA?? I have about 8 of them so far, and am looking for: -- Classic Funk vol 2 (i have vol 1,3) -- Classic House vol 1. 2 (i have vol. 3) -- Classic Acid vol 2 (i have vol 1) -- Classic Electro vol 1 I love these compilations, but they're very hard to find in the states, or rather, most record stores sporadically carry just a few of their releases, and usually it's ones I already have. They're also quite expensive ($18-$21) so any $$$-savings achievable by mail-order would be peachy. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= == Niels Mayer -- http://www.eit.com/~mayer -- mayer@netcom.com == =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK----- Version: 2.6.3 mQCNAzJKOnMAAAEEAMD9U5YD2wiMJU7vUYq1uqBB9M2sf9CuOhHRM5oYTygDMQGP Ot928KtN3/2jHlYSmGHceZZYtCUdISievlNPD5+JgrHCtU3rFfvzWJuMsODGSoo1 X3csx0aEvAfkHh+fHWs04iU7Sm5t8fp31PP5DPf9KEJIsX2Y63ZBlPtktX29AAUR tCFOaWVscyBQLiBNYXllciA8bWF5ZXJAbmV0Y29tLmNvbT6JAJUDBRAySjpzdkGU +2S1fb0BAWT1BACH1GWBrkYufLb2KN5nyqB5r2TyqeqgNirOSpuQT9a4ozFAqSiM M8k+w+uj+VAMwugKdz9kL41thUCY+FI/jv4SPQzbwkY2mJs80YLJEqWA0OKUcI2F naYvMJo2zKS9jjAEX6hT5No4ZUK9hS8sREcHI2twdrJ66zExV3s6xUlSUQ== =RUx1 -----END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----

ok.. this isn't IDM at all, but i'm looking for a song id. it's a track, kind of old sounding, with a guy singing, and guitars, and drums, and some strings that come in now and again. he sings about his girl, who wrote him a letter, which made him want to come back to her. anybody know what this is? now for something relevant.. just got the water & architecture compilation (on subrosa, i think, don't have it handy) and it's pretty neat. all exclusive tracks, by directions, bisk, atom heart, aer and seefeel. anyway, the atom heart track is good, the 3 bisk tracks are, as usual, top notch, and the others are all nice too. add that to weird, artsy liners and you've got a winner for those who like the stranger side of techno. noah

I picked up Bisk > Time > SR112 the other day at Amoeba in SF and I must say I'm enjoying it immensely. Have they put out any other albums? I've just generally been impressed with Sub Rosa of late. thanks anyway, anti-rock face, but i'm sure it wasn't led zeppelin. cute little comment though. how does this sound? i'm looking for a track with crackly, kind of distorted beats and some airy analogish sounds in the back. there's some weird vocal sample that kicks in every now and then. sounds a bit like a million or so electronic tracks, doesn't it? noah np: zep 2
