Hello ambient explorers! I've unearthed a quantity of the Environment series of vinyl LPs, all sealed and minty. The only one not among them is record # four of the # 1 through #11 that I've found (I do have one copy of number 4, first come first serve). The first one is titled, "Psychologically Ultimate Seashore," and #2 is the very interesting "Tintinnabulation," and says, "imagine five huge bells tuned to reverberate harmonically with each other. The unusually soft strikes are computer modelled, in widely seperated stereo, based on a sophisticated sampling technique." For those of you familiar with these discs, no explanation is necessary. For all others, let it be known that the Environments (TM) series was a ground-breaking early 1970s experiment from Syntonic Labratories, Inc. I quote from their first release, "Psychologically Ultimate Seashore": "...listening to Environments (TM) recordings puts most people into Alpha state and keeps them there longer than the use of most bio-feedback training devices.", and "We have found that our heartbeat recording does have a special relationship to sex..." The remaining notes discuss everything from meditation to headache relief, and altered perception. Environments recordings were aboard the Explorer! These records are true artifacts from the ideological era that started it all, but they are also still very potent and totally relevant to our present ideas of AMBIENCE. Accept no substitutes (of which there are many). This is the shit! $8.00 each gets me to drive out to the warehouse where I found these and send them to you. If you want more than one, the price will go to $7.00. Buyer pays shipping. $3 US for the first, and a buck apiece for the rest. We can figure out foreign shipping. Had a good response the first time around, not one unsatisfied customer. E-mail me privately at: brittonjames@aristotle.net References available Charlie James
