Speaking of Kruder and Dorfmeister, check out their mix CD on Studio !K7, part of the increasingly formidable DJ Kicks series (i.e., Carl Craig, Claude Young, K&D; Stacey Pullen and Kenny Larkin to come). Nice tracks, effects-enhanced dub mixing/remixing, plus wicked liner notes. I listened to this today at the dentist's office while breathing nitrous oxide and having my wisdom teeth removed. JM

You forgot C.J. Bolland as well. Haven't quite reached that one in the ol' 6-CD hopper yet ...

Hey.. Here's this weeks records in the blurred dot mailbox.. I'll also take a minute to tell ya about the new trax in Pats soundshaft.. First the reviews !! --------------------------- Cathy Brown. - Get on up (?) - (????) (12") My sis brought this back from London.. It's a one sided whitelabel and it just had C. Brown written on the inner sleeve, but after some research, I found out that it's a Cathy Brown trak.. It's a limited whitelabel and rumour has it that it's only been made for sales in the London area.. Anyway, this trak is a killer.. Nice vocals, stabbs stolen from the clashback trak (the detune sounds).. Massive !! ........ 10 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Bjavi. - David vs. Goliath Ep. - (Forst Initiative.(cat#jou002) (12") This is a inbetween record..It's half house and half techno..Whitelabel, so I cant tell you what the traks are namned, but there's loads of nice string patterns, nice mellow pads, stabs, and vox.. It's only pressed in 500 copies, so if you want your hands on this one, hurry up.. My prediction is that it'll make wonders in the clubs it's being played.. more info, www.tip.nl/users/smokin.beats/ ........ 9 ---------------------------------------------------------- Family Project. - Volume 1 - (Step 2 House.) (12") Cat#: 560 0056 30. This is 2 French guys by the name of Serge & More who have mad a bangin' minimal electronic release.. Both have very long education in music and it shines trough in theire techno work.. High quality Dave Clarkish trax with heeps of energy and industrial strength.. My fav trak is Virtual which reminds me of Christian Vogel a bit :) Release date 21/04/97 ........ 8 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Bassline Baby. - Made in Poland Ep. - (Step 2 House.) (12") Cat#: 560 0057 30 The Swede, and a friend, Samuel Malm's 4th release on Step 2 House.. This is acid trance rangin' to GOA and it's not really my cup of tea..Still, it's very well produced so I'll rekkon that a lot of you goa heads will shake your arms to this one !? ........ 6 -------------------------------------------------------------- Joel Mull, Screwball Jams - Volume 1 & 2 - () (2x12") This is released as a 2x12" set as well as on CD with 2 bonus trax.. Joel, the 4th Swede on step 2 house creats minimal, funky techno in a Hybrid and Planet Rhythm vein.. Funky analogue sounds and it'll probably get huge on the minimal floors around the globe if they have sorted out the distribution problems.. They've had some problems with that in the past..Anyway, high quality productions from Joel.. Good luck on ya dude !! It's great !! ........ 8 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- And now to my trax !! ------------------------------ 1. Gotta F**k (pump it up edit) Another groovy edit of the gotta F**k trak.... --------------------------------------- 2. Narrow Speach. A smooth, mellow Ambient tune.. ------------------------------------------------ 3. The Worm. A bleepy hard trance trak I did years ago.. Still, sounds pretty cool.... --------------------------------------------------- 4. What a Bang.. This one is released on Reflection Music US - UK.. Just wanted to drop it im here, as that's one of the styles I'm into at current.. ------------------------------------------------------ That's all for this week.. Enjoy !! /Pat.. -- We have moved !! I was in Tower Records looking at a book filled with Record Covers and I saw what I thought was Kruder & Dorfmeister, but instead it was a Simon & Garfunkel record cover. Apparently Kruder & Dorfmeister had imitated the cover (unless I am mistaken)... Anyone know the scoop on this? Thanks a lot, -d-

The cover of S&G's 'Bookends' is identical in that they used a b&w photo with the same pose, etc.. I haven't heard it so I don't really know why they did it. Bookends has Mrs. Robinson on it. Tim In every work of genius we recognise our own rejected thoughts; they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty. On Fri, 18 Apr 1997, David Seruyange wrote:

I don't know the scoop on it, but I saw the same thing at a store once, and I was wonder why K&D was in the rock section, but when I got a closer look, I was really surprised myself that it was S&G. AtL-5
