A contention: IMO, after several earth-shattering releases (Eponymous 1st
EP, CCS, TAL, CTNDA), and the uninspired "This Eclipse", Polvo have
finally managed to suck with "Exploded Drawing"...a disappointing album if
there ever was one. The few decent sounding songs on ED are hardly
consolation for what sounds to me like a bunch of drunk studio musicians
trying to mimic the Polvo sound. A real heartbreaker, but oh well it had
to end sometime.
Don Caballero have broken up after scaring the shit out of drummers
worldwide...the guitar player's new group The Storm and Stress weren't
received too well here in Baltimore when the band I'm in played with them
-- the general consensus seemed to be that they sounded like shit and
were assholes to everybody. I would be the last person to doubt the
musical prowess of anyone who had so much as sneezed on Don Caballero, but
that fact certainly doesn't keep me from realizing that creativity isn't
forever.
...(in the voice of dennis miller) that's just my opinion, i could be
wrong...
and oh yeah, isn't one person's Nirvana just another person's Bush? har.
