This record just appeared today on the doorstep, and i must say, from a very brief listen, that there are some intricate electronic bits snapping all about this record. I was expecting a more laid-back, ambient-glitch style from Geiom, but his remixes of Metamatics are very very pleasant, so far. I'll comment more on this as soon as i digest the wonderful tunes on the new Swayzak Recordings compilation, "240 Volts". I can hardly believe the lineup, and the tracks are splendid! Also, the new and upcoming releases on Statra Recordings have floored me as well. When i get some time, i'd really like to plug these slabs of wax. Amazing stuff on Statra.. Definately gotta agree with Pietro on this. I was actually a bit wary of these upcoming releases (a 2xLP/CD compilation and a single artist 12" - the names of which escape me as the records are at home at the moment and I'm not) from this newish American electronic indie as I wasn't that impressed by the label's debut release, a house mix CD by DJ Harry The Bastard. But there are some seriously fine sounds on these records, and the only names I recognized where S. Yokota (who has recorded for Leaf, Harthouse and other labels, and contributed two tracks to the compilation) and Spacetime Continuum (no intro needed, he does a great jazzy remix on the 12"). I gave them a quick listen last night, and there were bits of crunchy & abstract IDM, electro, dubby techno and lots of other good stuff. Really, really impressive - watch for them to drop in early March.
