Right on! This album is serious future funk from back in the day. This guy was a contemporary of Kraftwerk and deserves to stand next to Kraftwerk, Parliament, and (add your favorite 70's beat wiz here) as the roots of ... electronic dance music. I don't use the term 'idm' anymore, it sounds too elitist and arrogant to me now. Sorry Alan. As much as I like CV, I don't think they were as influential as Factory Record mates New Order. Don't be afraid of the future sounds on 'from here to eternity', be afraid of the space age badass on the cover. :) Let's continue this great thread. Anyone got any other recs? I also got this 'electronic dreams' soundtrack by Moroder and the guy from Human League. It is not quite what I had hoped it to be. Do check out Human League 'Travelogue' though. For the polyrhythmic drum effect: 'Space is the place' by Sun Ra. For the electro funk: check out the electro funk comps from various sources. They are generally quite good. I think Rhino has one out.

Sounds like one to track down. I have this hilarious album by Moroder called "Nights In White Satin". The cover features Giorgio standing in a doorway, bathed in light, while about a dozen young men look on adoringly. Unfortunately, the music isn't as electronic as some of his other stuff.

I see nothing wrong with being intelligent. Beats the hell out of being stupid.

I'll agree with you, with a caveat. New Order pushed me in the direction of listening to dance music. CabVol I can still listen to without bursting into laughter. Barney's lyrics make the Spice Girls sound intelligent. Che
