Coil is mostly John Balance and Peter Christopherson(the more famous member, from Hipgnosis(legendary graphic design group), Throbbing Gristle, and an excellent video creator/director). For more and better information than I could provide, please visit http://www.brainwashed.com/coil This is an excellent page, which covers all the bases. HORSE ROTORVATOR Not a very electronic album. IDM fans are more likely to appreciate Love's Secret Domain. Nevertheless, I love it. It is very cohesive, with such lovely themes as: dark angels, war, death, sewage, and male sexual energy. Coil's music does not sound like much else. This album is no exception. It relies heavily on strings, horns, war drums, animal cries, and other miscellaneous sound effects. The first couple of songs manage to be disturbing in an energetic, cheery way. There is a song that sounds like live parade music, one with brooding acoustic guitars, and some heavy, buzzing industrial. They cover Leonard Cohen's "Who By Fire". There is singing and narration in a few places. from Ostia (The Death Of Pasolini): There's honey in the hollows And the contours of the body A sluggish golden river A golden, sticky trickle You can hear the bones humming And the car reverses over The body in the basin In the shallow sea-plane basin. Really worth a listen, but many of you will absolutely hate it. Very few albums put me in a thoughtful mood like this one does. Notes: Stephen Thrower is listed as a band member for this one, & I have a feeling that the CD tracklisting is messed up.
