If you didn't like Virtual State, then you probably won't like either 'The Conversation' double-CD, or RHK's solo follow-up to VS, 'The Number of Magic.' I love 'em both though, so you might wanna try them both out in the store first. Between those two, The Conversation is a bit harder, and more accessible. onnow: Bowling Green "The Mingle EP" (blue planet) Lame Thread Prevention in Effect: Aaron Michelson --------------------------------------------------------------------- aw-teck'r (autechre) "Everything you Know is Wrong" For reviews, interviews, art & trash http://www.on-it.net/~aaron/ aaron@defiant.on-it.net

Skip them all. Try to find these: Listen Up with Cabaret Voltaire The Covenant, the Sword, and the Arm of the Lord Drinking Gasoline Microphonies (for Sensoria). Unfortunately they are all out of print I think. sigh. Some of the ones you noted are decent ambient techno, but nothing like the above. The best of the ones you've mentioned is probably the conversation. --- the humble abbott arthur purvis set his hand hereto.

Just to present an opposing point of view, I would heartily recommend "The Conversation", "Living Legends" (early Classic CV era tracks) and "Plasticity" over "The Covenant ...", "Drinking Gasoline" and "Microphonies" any day. Especially to a curious IDM list member (who would probably be more atune to the recent trilogy Techno releases than to the mid-80's work). - Greg
