THE MORNING AFTER (POSITIVA) Touted on the cover as "the ulitimate post-club companion", Mixmaster Morris takes us on a continuous mixed journey through the fields of 1996 required listening. This is basically Morris doing a "DJ Kicks" type thing in his out inimitable style. Lovers of smoked out, downtempo head music, dub n' bass, and sublime jazz/funk cheese will not be disappointed. The cd travels through austere ambience, trippy echo washes, rythms both skittery and crusty, and moments of pure backroom ecstacy. All the tracks offer up the goodies in one way or the other. I need to give this one a few more listens to be more specific about the individual tracksbut the T-Power, Spring Heel Jack, and Dub Tractor cuts are especially nice. Just when you think the pace of the cd is winding down with the last few tracks, The Alroy Road Tracks featuring Duke of Haringay cut "Sarcacid 1" ends the cd with a bang, infusing the listener with Tom Jenkinson's hilarious blend of rythm programming, bass playing and otherworldy musical sensibilities. If anyone else has this cd, I'd be interested to know what others think. Also, on the Ultra/Throb webpage, this cd is sold as a 2 cd set, with the second cd being a sampler of Positiva artists. I got my copy from Modern Music and it was only 1 disc. Any clues here? James.

you're not missing much, the sampler is almost entirely disposable and has next to nothing in common with the quality tracks on the morris disk. i was hoping for a dbl. mix cd... andy
