I think we need a new revolution..... I admit I love drum'n bass with a passion, and trip hop just don't stop, but the inescapably head-bobbing rhythms of minimal snare-on-bloops 4/4 techno just hasn't been as hyped lately as it should be. Records which has recently tickled my ears..... Steve Moore's 12" on Lime (germany) all four tracks just rocks my world. Orb's Toxygene remix by Kris Needs with that wonky squiggle squelch... wow! Spicelab vs. Will E. Tell 12" (the Voodoo Hell track is stonkingly mad) Kulprit "Toulouse Tangents" (Headz009, very hypnotic, shimmering techno) About half of the DSN meets HIA collaboration is so subtle and sublime.... I just made a compilation of these tracks on cassette, and was listening to it on the way to a party last night. It suddenly hit me that I was grooving more to these tracks that I had to anything else in months! What's happening to me? onnow: spicelab vs. will e. tell (spy vs. spice) Lame Thread Prevention in Effect: Aaron Michelson --------------------------------------------------------------------- aw-teck'r (autechre) "Everything you Know is Wrong" For reviews, interviews, art & trash http://www.on-it.net/~aaron/ aaron@defiant.on-it.net

In that case I think you'd love 'The Mind Control Of Candy Jones' by Holy Ghost on Tresor. Fierce, driving, blinding techno, the individual tracks sound like well mixed segments of a stonking DJ set for some reason (sounds come in, loop for a while, get hypnotic then they drop out again like tracks being mixed in and out). It's metallic and clattering - really super fine stuff. Who Holy Ghost is/are, I've no idea. A previous appeal to the list turned up almost no info... anyone new out there who's got a clue? Damon.
