somebody asked earlier about impulse...i haven't a clue as to the group's
identity, background, etc., but they released at least two eps prior to
their studio k7 debut, both on the vastly underacknowledged dodge label:
"je m'aventure" (dodge 004)
"one-seven ep" (dodge 006)
the first is a solid slab of snappy, delicate, ultrafunky 808 electro
(imagine man parrish updated with a nod to the jedi knights), with the
second a mixture of electro, bossa nova-core trip-hop, and composerly
drum'n'bass. in between these, dodge released a four-track ep called
"welper," featuring tracks inna lo-fi electronica experimenta vein by four
artists i've never heard of (simulation, minmalphunk, mellies mordas, and
heil). i recommend all three releases to fans of the more experimental,
less redundant corner of new-school electro. anybody know what dodge
001-003 are?
can't wait to pick up the full-length...
